How to Differentiate One Keno Ticket from Another
If players are confused about the hierarchy of hands in poker, boggled at the number of bets made in roulette, intimidated by the table layout of craps, players of keno no doubt feel a little woozy when they have to decide what type of ticket they'd purchase this time.
But - that's why we wrote this article. We're going to make sure that the next time you log in to play keno, you'd be able to choose the right type of ticket for you, even with your eyes closed!
The Straight Ticket
Majority of keno players tend to purchase straight tickets alone and nothing else. When you buy a straight ticket, you determine the number of picks you wish to make and that's it! No other thing to compute or watch out for except your numbers!
The odds on a straight ticket vary of course depending on how many numbers you've encircled. Let's take a pick-5-straight-ticket as an example and study the payoffs.
If all the numbers you've marked are called out, the casino will be paying you 332:1. Unbelievable, isn't it? Well, don't count your eggs yet till they're hatched. You have to choose the right numbers first before you can win. So don't spend the whole day dreaming about the prize money.
On the other hand, if only 4 out of 5 got called out, that's still no reason to despair because the house will still pay you - and at a whopping 26 to 1 at that! So if you bet a dollar and won, you'll be able to go home with less than thirty dollars in your pocket! If only three out of five numbers get drawn, you're simply paid 3 to 1. Although that's comparatively lower, it's still nothing to scoff at.
And besides, you're just beginning to play the game. There's no pressure yet!
The Split Ticket
This type of ticket is not at all complicated. In fact, a split ticket is merely a paper containing two straight tickets. There's a hidden clause, however, attached to split tickets and that's not being able to encircle the same number more than once!
King Ticket
Not everybody know about the existence of king tickets. A king ticket will have a number that has been pre-selected and encircled; the King is usually this number (hence the name of the ticket). This number should be combined with other digits to make the player win.
And that's it for now. Way tickets are too complex so let's not get to that yet. Happy playing!
