For example, choosing 20 numbers and betting $10 on each number for a total of $200 may result in a bigger prize money than betting on 10 numbers. However, if only 5 numbers out of 20 win, this will have the same prize money as a game with 5 winning numbers out of 10, at lesser expense. Thus, choosing 20 numbers is more costly than choosing 10 but you have more chances to win and the prize money will be bigger.

If you want to play keno for fun or just to get the feel of playing this game, you can still play with small bet amounts. For instance, you can play 20 numbers and bet $1 each, for a total bet of $20. Your probable winnings will be smaller than placing $5 or $10 per number, but you spend less and you have more chances to win than playing 8 or 10 numbers.

Always make sure that you have read and understood the rules on keno for the casino you want to play in, as the rules differ from casino to casino.
